I meet my nephew (a little early!)

He wasn't due until February 21st, but little Gavin Lee Bennett could not wait to see his world.  On January 13th my sister called in a bit of a panic (okay, scared to death).  Just after 8am while at work, she had gone to the bathroom and felt a "pop", followed by some water and "cramps".  Within the hour, she was at her doctor's and they were giving her the unfortunate news that, yes, she was in labor...and the baby was breach.  So they got her ready for a c-section that was to happen around noon.  When they checked her cervix 3 hours later, she was already 6cm and Gavin's foot was about to test the temperature in the room (yes, it was almost poking out).  So they rushed her in for the C-section at that point.

About 10 minutes before noon, Gavin was born weighing 5lb 12oz and measuring 16 1/2 inches.  He was breathing on his own and aside from a few low blood sugars in his first few hours, he had no problems.  Both he and my sister were able to go home 3 days later.  He is doing great as is my sister.  I know she was initially upset because it wasn't what any of us want and she wasn't ready...she had just had her baby shower 2 days earlier!  But now that she has her precious baby to hold, I'm pretty sure that her and Brian are happier than they've ever been!
