This is probably my longest post ever...that's what happens when you wait more than 2 months to post! The pictures start right after Halloween and go up through Christmas. I haven't got any downloaded from my camera since Christmas. That's my next goal!
That's a bitter lemon face. He loves them! Brad kept feeding him lemons, he kept sucking on them, then making this face. Too funny.
Can you believe I wake up to skies like this most days??? It's incredible. And as usual, pictures don't do it any justice. You can't see all the red and orange in these photos. That's the view when I roll over in bed each morning and look out the window. Pretty awesome.
My little munchkin running away from the camera while playing outside.
Our first Thanksgiving in our new home...my mom and I slaved all day and the night before, but it was worth the hard work and I think we all enjoyed the feast!
My sister's Christmas card photo, which I took in our front yard the weekend of Thanksgiving. What a cute family!
Proud papas and their boys.
A favorite activity of Spencer - putting on mommy and daddy's shoes. We find him doing it all the time and he's gotten pretty good at cruising around in some of them, without any help. It's pretty darn cute.
Bundled up for the tree hunt. It was just above freezing that day, but we found the perfect tree!
That close-up on our Christmas card? What you couldn't see was that he was on the top rung of an 8-ft ladder. He made it up 1 rung by himself, before we jumped to the rescue. He is such a climber. When we were taking down lights, he made it up 2 rungs by himself...then fell off! He let out a big cry, then got up and tried to do it again. Crazy boy!
Our family Christmas photo this year. Spence was not a happy camper at the time, but we were able to get him smiling with his big stuffed giraffe that Uncle Scott and family sent him last year for Christmas. He loves that giraffe!
Mommy and Spencer getting pics for our Christmas card. Wow, I love this guy!
Spencer loving one of daddy's gifts to himself. A new riding mower! Now we can take care of all this property we decided to plant grass on. Brilliant!
Spencer opening his first gift from Grandma Black...a Tickle Me Elmo. Doesn't every kid have to have one?
Merry Christmas! Spencer had a blast playing with all of the new toys, not just his but his cousins', too.
Three loving brother-in-laws burning boxes and wrapping paper on Christmas day...couldn't do that without a few beers and a stogie!
Spence and his surrogate daddy posing with Uncle Brian and Gavin. Spencer will often choose Uncle Steve over mommy or daddy. It's very cute. Steve is great with him. My nieces are 2 very lucky little girls!
He was absolutely in love with the snow. His cheeks were bright pink and his fingers (which we put gloves on shortly after this picture) were nice and chilly before we finally dragged him inside, kicking and screaming. This guy loves the great outdoors, rain, snow, or shine!
Wow, it's been over 2 months since my last post. That's a personal record, even for me! It has been such a crazy, busy 2 months. Since my last post, we celebrated our first Thanksgiving in our new home. My mom's family was here and we squeezed 13 people around the table, not including Spencer and Gavin. The next several weeks were spent doing lots of Christmas shopping (much of it online), decorating the house (though we never got around to the outside this year), visiting with Brad's mom (who spent almost a month with us over the holidays) and taking care of the little girl growing in my belly! It's time to start documenting my second pregnancy, though I doubt I will be as good at it as I was the first time around.
Christmas came with a huge surprise...my sister and her family flew out from Boston to spend the holidays with us and the only people that knew about it were Brad and Brian. It was an amazing, perfect surprise that made for a very special Christmas. We had a full house. Who would have guessed that with 5 bedrooms, we would still have people sleeping on the floor and on the couch!
We spent New Year's at home with a few friends...Sean and Kim and Rob and Kris. Due to tired kids and some jet lag, they were gone well before midnight, so we had a quiet New Year's with both of our moms, watching the ball drop and playing Catch Phrase. It was perfect!
The New Year has been good to us so far. We had a little drama this week...Spencer had to have surgery yesterday, poor guy. He needed a circumcision revision, and turns out he had a few more issues down there that they had to fix. It was an emotional, scary experience for me (and dad, too), but Spencer was a trooper and within a few hours of waking up from anesthesia, you would never have known he'd just had surgery (until you change his diaper!). He's back to his normal self today. Speaking of that normal self, he is finally starting to talk a bit more. He can make lots of animal sounds, point to several body parts...today, he learned how to do an elephant and how to lift his shirt up to show you his tummy. It's pretty cute and mommy and daddy are very proud! He got a few more teeth this month, bringing he grand total to 12 so far. He started swim class again last week and will be taking Music Together again starting next week. He continues to go to Gymboree classes every week with his nanny. Oh, he has a new nanny! His nanny is due in March and decided she needed a few months retirement before the baby came (being 23 and pregnant can be so rough, huh?), so we have a new girl who Spencer seems to really like. Come June, I will be taking at least a few months off, then we will have to make some tough decisions as to what to do with each of the kiddos. We're thinking of putting Spencer in daycare or preschool a few days a week. I think he'd love the interaction with other kids and he will be more than ready by then.
The house is wonderful. We are loving our space and our views of Mount Hood. I've never seen such amazing sunrises. It makes getting up early not so bad.
And that is a quick synopsis of the past 2 months. Next up? A trip to Park City next month. It will be my first year not strapping into a snowboard, but I will get to spend lots of time playing in the snow with Spencer!
