Key West

We had a perfect vacation last week!  We spent the week in Key West with my family, where we rented this really cool home that was originally owned by a friend of Ernest Hemingway.  We had our own pool and over an acre of lush jungle-like, meticulously kept yard to play in and explore.  I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked Key West.  It is very much like the Caribbean islands we have been to.  The water was a beautiful clear turquoise and the weather was around 85 degrees every day, cooling off to low 70s at night.  The beaches aren't spectacular, but then again Key West is not known for its' beaches.  We did find one beach that had nice sand, minimal seaweed, and perfect waves for wading.  There was even a little bit of snorkeling right off the shore.  We spent a few days at our rental house, lounging by the pool, three days on the beach, one day we toured town, and another day we went on a snorkeling trip.  My nieces are growing up to be amazing little girls - I love them like they were my own girls.  I can only imagine how much love I will have for my own son if I feel this way about them!  We really had a good time and I hope we can find a way to meet up annually in different places.  That is the last vacation we have planned and now we will settle in and wait for baby to come...only 16 weeks to go!
